Butterfly Blouse

My husband and I took a few days over the weekend to visit some family in California. We had such a nice time visiting with everyone, eating at some really great restaurants, and doing plenty of walking while enjoying the great weather. One thing I absolutely love about California is the weather. It’s just perfect. I also love the many colors of flowers and the greenery. I sure wish that we could easily grow lemon trees in Texas!

I’ll show more pictures from our trip later this week, but as for the outfit…I wore this blouse in a previous post,  but felt that it was the perfect top to wear during our trip. It’s light enough to keep me cool, and the 3/4 sleeves kept me warm enough as it cooled in the evening.

The Little Things

{L’Occitane shower gel and lotion in a peony scent – my favorite flower}

This week has been full of spring cleaning, enjoying the perfect weather, visiting with friends and family, and some good meals. I’m looking forward to relaxing this weekend and meeting up with some family we haven’t seen in awhile. These are the things that I’ve been loving this week:

{J. Crew beaded necklaces with rhinestone accents}

{This candle is made from recycled wine bottles and smells so good}

{A nourishing lip balm for overnight}

{A pair of comfy Naturalizer sandals in a neutral colorblock}

Pretty Peplum

When the peplum trend first came out, I was skeptical. There was something about it that I wasn’t quite sure about. Over time, I started to see a few peplum pieces that were really nice – a skirt, dress, or jacket. Then when I saw this blouse (on sale!), I fell in love with it. It’s simple, yet it still makes a statement.

With this outfit, I wanted to keep the focus on the peplum details, so I kept my jewelry minimal. However, I added some color with my shoes. I love the fun floral and cherry pattern!

How To Pack Shoes

{I keep these bags together for easy access when I need them}

When I travel, I prefer to store my shoes in a bag inside my suitcase. This not only helps me stay organized, but it prevents the bottom of the shoes from touching anything else in my suitcase. (I’ve been known to be a germaphobe, and there’s no telling what could be on the bottom of shoes!)

So, what do I store my shoes in? I actually keep those cute drawstring bags that handbags come in when you buy one. I have found that these make great bags for holding shoes when travelling!

{The bags are usually big enough to hold more than one pair of shoes, but I usually prefer to keep each pair separate}

{This just looks like a silky bed for your shoes – which is great because the shoes won’t get scratched}

{Then simply pull the drawstring, pack in your suitcase, and repeat for each pair of shoes!}
